Test Results

When a test is requested, please tell the clinician if you are happy to receive the results by text message.  This can allow you to receive the result quickly, and know if any action is required.

When you attend for a test of any kind you will be told how long you should expect to wait for the results.

For any tests REQUESTED BY THE HOSPITAL please ensure you go back to the requester as unfortunately the surgery does NOT HAVE ACCESS to these results until the Consultant writes to us which can take up to 6 weeks from the time of any test.

ANY ABNORMAL results where ACTION IS NEEDED should be communicated by phone call or text message. In any cases where a result has not been communicated, please do follow this up either by accessing the results online (speak to reception to explain how to sign up for this) OR by ringing our receptionists (preferably after 10 am Monday to Friday to avoid the busy morning rush) and they will be able to convey any messages the clinician has attached when viewing your results.

Please note that we do have a strict policy regarding confidentiality and data protection. In this respect we will only give out results to the person they relate to unless that person has given prior permission for their release or if they are not capable of understanding them.
